About Michaela Vardanis
Qualified in residential and commercial design, horticulture and garden journalism, Michaela Vardanis is a distinguished garden architect and a fully fledged member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers.
From an early career in floristry in Yorkshire supplying flowers to celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Princess of Wales, Michaela progressed to horticulture and design at London’s leading Clifton
Nurseries.

A graduate of the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden she was inspired by the contemporary works of Frank Lloyd Wright and the classical garden architecture of Sir Edward Lutyens.
In 1995 Michaela founded the Garden Architects’ Academy at the Mitchell Library in Sydney. She has spent the past 13 years designing and installing a variety of gardens, alongside teaching the elements of garden design to some of Sydney’s leading corporations. Her style embraces both the traditional and contemporary. She is particularly interested in ecology and the use of domestic waste water in the garden along with low voltage lighting. Michaela's expertise in garden building, her knowledge of plants and design skills extend into the home interior where the design of kitchens and bathrooms is significant for the reuse of water.
